We started our new math unit last week! It is all about DATA! This is one of my favorite units. The students are having fun so far. The essential question for this unit is: How do we use data? After completing this unit students will be able to:
- organize and interpret data with up to three categories
- represent data with up to three categories
- ask and answer questions about the total number of data points.
- ask and answer questions about how many in a category.
- ask and answer questions about how many more or less are in one category than in another.
New vocabulary terms include: tally chart, survey, bar graph, picture graph
Later this week students will be working in partnerships to develop their own survey question, survey their classmates, collect data, and use the data to create either a picture graph or a bar graph!
