Writing Non-Fiction Books

Last week students began brainstorming topics for their non-fiction books. Students used a graphic organizer to think of games they know how to play, things they know how to make or cook, people or places they know a lot about, etc. We also learned about the difference between a fact and an opinion and learned that writers use facts when writing non-fiction books. We are going to be using one or more of those ideas this week as students begin writing books to teach others about their topics. We will really focus on our reader and think about adding all the details we need for them to understand/learn from our books.
